Description
Ornamental ivy - Hedera helix ‘Manda's Crested’
In a nutshell
Ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Manda's Crested’, is self-fruitful with fairly short internodes and 5-lobed, strongly scurved and wavy foliage.
Because of the overlap, the leaf petiole appears to be in the centre, giving the characteristic ruffled appearance. The base of the leaves is cordate.
The foliage is shiny, almost apple-green. It can be tinted coppery brown in cold conditions. This ivy is best used as ground cover for medium-sized areas.
This ivy was awarded the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Garden Award of Merit in 1993.
History
This cultivar was introduced by WA Manda Inc, New Jersey, USA around 1940. It is a mutation of ‘Merion Beauty’.
