Description
Ornamental ivy - Hedera helix ‘Golden Starlight’
In a nutshell
Ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Golden Starlight’, is a luminous ivy.
Its leaves have 3 to 7 elongated, narrow, pointed lobes. The leaf blade is green and grey, with bright yellow margins.
The stems are self-branching, with short internodes. This is a wonderful climbing ivy, which can also look great in pots or as ground cover. Choose a spot sheltered from draughts, especially in winter. Keep an eye out for unfaithful stems, which should be removed as you go along. It has a tendency to revert to its parent ‘Goldchild’.
History
This cultivar was discovered by Henrik Boniokke, Denmark in 1998. It is a mutation of ‘Goldchild’.
