Ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Conglomerata’, is a highly original form of ivy.

The leaves are clasping at the base and intertwined on opposite sides of the stem. They are wavy, even slightly curly, and three-lobed with well-rounded dark green lobes.

The internodes are very short. The stem is thick, extending in a zigzag pattern. It is a compact, slow-growing ivy with a creeping habit that forms beautiful emerald-green carpets.

This ivy was elected «Ivy of the Year» 2015 by the American Ivy Society.

History

This cultivar was introduced around 1870 in the catalogue of the German nurseries Haage and Schmidt.
