Description
Ornamental ivy - Hedera helix ‘Classy Lassie’
In a nutshell
Ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Classy Lassie’, is a very pretty variegated variety that is sure to catch the eye.
The leaves have 3 to 5 shallow, rather rounded lobes. The leaf blade is dark green splashed with yellow and cream, beautifully matched with the pinkish-red colouring of the petioles and stems. In spring, the young leaves take on a superb buttery yellow colour. The stems are stocky and sparsely branched. The internodes are short.
This is an ivy to be used in pots or in small areas of the garden where it will not go unnoticed, preferably in a sunny position. It does well in dry conditions.
History
This cultivar was discovered by Ebbe Storm in Denmark in 1996. It is a mutation of ‘Oro di Bogliasco’.
