Description
Ornamental ivy - Hedera helix ‘Bettina’
In a nutshell
Ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Bettina’, is one of the most graceful ivy with a white margin.
The leaves are broad and scurved, often asymmetrical and slightly wavy at the edges. They are composed of 3 to 5 lobes, with a central lobe that is longer than the lateral lobes. The leaf blade is a dull pale green with fine white margins.
This is a highly branched ivy that makes an outstanding ground cover. Its modest growth of around 20 to 40 cm per year makes it ideal for small spaces. It can also be used as a climber in alkaline soils.
History
This cultivar is a mutation of ‘Kaleidoscope’ introduced by the American Ivy Society Research Centre.
