Caucasian ivy - Hedera colchica

Caucasian ivy, Hedera colchica, is a botanical variety which, as its name suggests, comes from the Caucasus region. This ivy has heart-shaped leaves, 5 to 10 cm long, without lobes, dark green, shiny, which can be rounded or pointed.

The stems are sparsely branched, thick and quickly become woody, with internodes of 6 to 10 cm. Stems and petioles are bronze-green.

This is a medium to fast-growing, climbing ivy. 

History

This cultivar was discovered in 1978 by Mrs Lyndsay Bradler-Lawrence near Trabzon, Turkey, on the shores of the Black Sea.
