The edge of the leaf has teeth of varying size. The palmate leaf has 5 to 7 lobes. The base is cordate. The leaf blade is dark green in the centre and edged with light green or chartreuse green. These shades are much more pronounced in sunny locations.

The occasional question ...
What does palmate mean?
The vocabulary used by botanists to describe plants is very rich. For leaves alone, you can come across dozens of specific terms.
The word ‘palmatifide‘applies to a leaf with several lobes organised along the veins, all of which fan out from the top of the petiole. The indentations between the lobes almost reach the middle of each half-lobe.
