Spanish ivy - Hedera iberica ‘Monchique’

Spanish ivy, Hedera iberica ‘Monchique’, This is a variety found by Dr Mike Jones to the south-east of Monchique, in the Algarve, Portugal. It has broad, olive-green, matte leaves with several more or less deep cut-outs. The elongated lobes point forwards.
Young leaves are deep red. They then turn a more or less dark green.
This cultivar is more vigorous than the species. It prefers shady locations.
History
This cultivar was discovered by Dr Mike Jones to the south-east of Monchique, in the Algarve, Portugal, in 1988.
