Ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Blue Moon’, It owes its name to the unusual colour of its leaves.
They are densely arranged on the stem. The foliage is oblong, with two small spikes on the side. The leaf blade is light green at first, then takes on slightly blue tones, especially in dry, sunny conditions.
This species grows slowly, a few centimetres a year. It forms a carpet at ground level. It is best suited as ground cover for small areas of the garden. But it can also be used in pots or in the rock garden.
History
This cultivar is a mutation of ‘Little Diamond’. It was discovered by Russel Windle of Hedera Etc Nursery, Lionville, Pennsylvania, USA, in 1991.
