Ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Schaefer Three’, is a moderately vigorous, climbing or ground-covering ivy with glossy leaves with 3 or 5 lobes.
The leaf is variegated with shades of grey and grey-green and streaks of white, all edged with dark green. The variegation is highly unstable.
This cultivar is particularly suitable as a houseplant or for hanging baskets.
History
This cultivar was bred by Emil Schaefer, Germany, in 1974. It is an improvement on ‘Schaefer One’ and ‘Schaefer Two’. They are derived from a mutation of ‘Merion Beauty’.’
