Almost all ivy is suitable for semi-shade. We have selected more than 250 of them here from those explicitly recommended for this type of exposure. However, you can also use other ivy plants not on this list. Note that semi-shade can mean either exposure to the sun for less than 6 hours during the day, or exposure to filtered sunlight. What you really need to avoid is exposure to scorching sun.
If you can, opt for a spot with morning sun and afternoon shade - in other words, an eastern exposure.
