Description
Ornamental ivy - Hedera helix ‘Tanja’ semi-arborescent
In a nutshell
Ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Tanja’ semi-arborescent, is the semi-adult version of the ‘Tanja’ ivy with a shrubby habit and glossy, full, cordate leaves.
The leaf blade is triangular, usually fairly elongated and pointed.
This variety can be planted in a rock garden or as an isolated specimen.
History
The ‘Tanja’ cultivar was discovered in 1979 by Pieter Zwijnenburg, a nurseryman in the Netherlands, in the wild in the Caucasus mountains. It was initially mistaken for a variety of Hedera pastuchovii because of the shape of its leaves. But it doesn't have the spicy smell of pastuchovii.
